AI has evolved at a pace that’s hard to fully comprehend. I don’t know what the future holds, but I do know this: resisting it isn’t going to do me any good. So instead, I’ve been trying to engage with it creatively, using it less as a shortcut and more as a thinking partner.
Recently, I came across a prompt shared by Ali Abdaal, where he uses AI as a kind of life coach. Curious, I decided to dabble and adapt it for myself.
The prompt was simple but powerful: I asked AI to act as a 90-year-old version: someone who had quietly observed my life through my chat history, the questions I’ve asked, the patterns I’ve revealed and to tell me what advice they’d give me now.
The result? Shockingly inspiring.
What came back felt like a distilled, deeply personal set of life lessons, almost like the essence of a good non-fiction book, minus the 300 pages (jk, I will always choose reading, but this was impressive nonetheless).
I’m sharing a few statements that especially stayed with me. These are me-approved. Interpret them in your own way.
- Stop waiting to become “ready.”
- Guard your energy more fiercely than your reputation.
- Choose fewer people, but choose them deeply.
- Let your body be your ally, not your afterthought.
- SAY THE THING. (Who else needs to hear this? Damn.)
- Build something that outlives applause. (Mic drop.)
- Pray, sit quietly, or listen to something larger than yourself.
- When in doubt, choose love, not self-abandonment.
I’ll admit it: I’m impressed. Truly.
I’ve spent much of 2025 talking about using AI thoughtfully and responsibly in our lives, and this prompt felt like a meaningful starting point: for reflection, for closure, and for setting intentions for the year ahead.
Here’s wishing you the best year yet.
May it be as rocking as you are.
